About Our Founder — Josh Puffenbarger, CAI, AMM
Josh Puffenbarger is a first-generation auctioneer and the founder and owner of Allied Auctioneers & Associates LLC. A graduate of the prestigious Missouri Auction School and the Moseley Flint School of Real Estate, Josh has dedicated his career to the auction profession — establishing himself as one of Virginia's most respected auctioneers over a career spanning more than 15 years.
Josh has served as a contract auctioneer for Fortune 500 companies and has conducted hundreds of auctions ranging from residential and commercial real estate sales to large-scale heavy equipment and farm machinery auctions. His experience across diverse industries makes him uniquely qualified to serve a broad base of sellers throughout Rockingham County, Augusta County, and the Shenandoah Valley — and across Virginia and the Mid-Atlantic region.
Josh holds two of the auction industry's most respected professional designations — the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) and the Auction Marketing Management (AMM) designation, both conferred by the National Auctioneers Association. The CAI is widely regarded as the premier educational achievement in the auction profession, requiring a rigorous three-year program of study in auction law, business management, ethics, and client services held annually at Indiana University. The AMM designation reflects advanced expertise in auction marketing strategy — precisely the discipline that drives buyer participation and maximizes results for Allied Auctioneers & Associates' clients. Community Roots & Service
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Josh is deeply invested in the communities he serves. He is a member of Victory Fellowship Church, where he serves on the board of directors. He previously served as a board officer with his local Ruritan Club, helping to raise thousands of dollars for community causes in Harrisonburg, Staunton, and throughout the Shenandoah Valley. He is also appointed to Virginia's Department of Professional and Occupational Regulations (DPOR) Auctioneer's Board helping to oversee statewide governance of the auction industry.
One of Josh's most cherished ways to give back is by volunteering his auctioneering skills at the Augusta County and Rockingham County fairs each year, calling the livestock auctions that support 4-H and FFA youth programs.
