Our Mission

Our Mission

The mission of Allied Auctioneers & Associates is to serve every client — seller and buyer alike — with integrity, professionalism, and genuine care; to deliver the highest possible value through the auction method of marketing; and to conduct our business in a manner that honors God, strengthens our community, and reflects the values we hold as a family.

What Drives Us

At Allied Auctioneers & Associates, we believe the auction profession is a calling — not just a career. Founded by Josh Puffenbarger, a first-generation auctioneer with over 15 years of full-time experience serving Harrisonburg, Staunton, Rockingham County, Augusta County, and the broader Shenandoah Valley, our firm was built on a simple but deeply held conviction: that people deserve to be treated with dignity, that their assets deserve to be marketed with excellence, and that every transaction is an opportunity to serve others well.

That conviction doesn't come from a business school textbook. It comes from faith — a sincere belief that how we conduct ourselves in business is a reflection of our character and our values. We are a family business, operated by Josh and his wife Amber, and we approach every client relationship the way we would want our own family to be treated: honestly, transparently, and with their best interests at the center of every decision we make.

Our Commitment to Sellers

We understand that the decision to sell — whether it's a family farm that has been in your family for generations, a piece of real estate, a lifetime of equipment, or the contents of a loved one's estate — is rarely a simple one. It is often tied to life transitions: retirement, loss, relocation, or a new chapter. We do not take that trust lightly.

Our commitment to every seller we work with is straightforward:

  • We will market your assets aggressively and professionally across every appropriate channel — digital, social, print, and direct outreach — to maximize buyer participation and competitive bidding.
  • We will give you an honest assessment of your assets and realistic market expectations before you sign any agreement — even when that honesty is difficult.
  • We will provide a customized, written marketing plan tailored to your specific assets, timeline, and goals.
  • We will communicate with you clearly and consistently throughout the entire process, from listing through settlement.
  • We will conduct your auction with the same care and attention we would give our own family's assets.

Our Commitment to Buyers

A great auction requires great buyers, and we work hard to earn their participation and their trust. Buyers who register with Allied Auctioneers & Associates can expect clear, accurate asset descriptions; fair and transparent auction terms; and a bidding process — whether live on-site or through our online platform — that is conducted with professionalism and integrity. We want every buyer to leave an Allied Auctioneers auction feeling they were treated fairly and eager to come back.

Our Commitment to Community

Allied Auctioneers & Associates is not just a business operating in the Shenandoah Valley — we are members of this community. Josh has served as an officer of the Virginia Auctioneers Association for nine years, volunteers his auctioneering services each year at local county fairs to support 4-H and FFA youth programs, and is active in his church and local civic organizations. Amber is equally invested in the community that has supported and trusted our family business.

We believe that a business has a responsibility to give back to the community it serves — and we take that responsibility seriously. When Allied Auctioneers & Associates succeeds, we look for ways to reinvest that success into the people, programs, and organizations that make the Harrisonburg, Staunton, Rockingham County, and Augusta County communities places worth living and working in.

Our Standard of Excellence

Josh holds the Certified Auctioneers Institute (CAI) designation — the auction profession's most prestigious credential — as well as the Auction Marketing Management (AMM) designation from the National Auctioneers Association. He is also a Virginia real estate professional via the auction method of marketing. These credentials are not just letters after a name; they represent a sustained, ongoing commitment to being the best at what we do for the people who trust us with their assets.

We do not settle for average. We do not cut corners on marketing, on communication, or on the conduct of our auctions. Our reputation — built auction by auction, client by client, over more than 15 years in the Shenandoah Valley — is the most valuable thing we own. We protect it by doing right by every person we serve.

More Than a Transaction

At the end of the day, the auction method is simply the vehicle. What we are really in the business of is serving people well — at some of the most significant moments of their financial lives — and doing it in a way that we can be proud of when the day is done.

That is our mission. That is our standard. And that is the promise Allied Auctioneers & Associates makes to every client we have the privilege of serving.
